[DL] Four-year PhD grant on AI & Process Mining

One four-year PhD grant on AI & Process Mining is offered by the faculty of Computer Science of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano in Italy jointly with the Process & Data Intelligence research unit at Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Trento, Italy, where most of the research activities will be conducted. The grant amounts to 68,000 € (i.e., 17,000 euro per year, net after taxes); for research visits abroad the grant can increase up to 50%. Substantial extra funding is available for participation to international conferences, schools, workshops, research visits. The language of the PhD programme is English. 

The deadline for applications will be on the 30th of June, 2021

Within the AI & Process Mining field, the Process & Data Intelligence research unit is looking for PhD students interested in exploring synergies between AI techniques (both logic-based and machine learning based) and a wide range of Process Mining tasks such as discovery, compliance checking, verification, prediction and recommendation. We are looking, in particular, for students interested in topics such as:

- Machine Learning and Predictive methods applied to Predictive Process Monitoring
- Recommender Systems 
- Knowledge Representation and Linear Time Temporal Logic  
- Business process discovery and monitoring.

Fondazione Bruno Kessler and the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano are located 50 KM apart in one of the most fascinating European regions, the Dolomites. 

Fondazione Bruno Kessler is an internationally well-known research center, whose information technology department ranks first among the Engineering and Information Science research centers in Italy.

The Process & Data Intelligence research unit (http://pdi.fbk.eu <http://pdi.fbk.eu/>) is an internationally well known research group focused on the interplay between formal (and especially logic-based) representations of knowledge and data driven representations of knowledge, with particular emphasis on Process-aware systems and semantic web based systems. The PhD will be conducted under the joint supervision of Dr. Chiara Di Francescomarino. and Dr. Chiara Ghidini.

At this time of global uncertainty, you may be wondering whether your application to the PhD programme will be affected.
