FOIS 2025
The University of Catania is proud to host the 15th edition of the International Conference on Formal Ontology in Information Systems (FOIS) and the Joint Ontology Workshops Episode XI (JOWO) 2025, the flagship conference and joint workshops of the International Association of Ontology and its Applications (IAOA)<https://iaoa.org/>.
Early birds may benefit from lower registration fees until the 25th of July and late registration will be open until the 31st of August. You can register for the conference at a cheaper rate until July 25, 2025. Registration allows options for on-site participation: Full registration, JOWO only, or Day pass. The full on-site registration grants access to both JOWO (September 8-9) and FOIS (September 10-12), as well as to the social events. Note that main track authors should complete a full registration before the 25th of July.

The Interdisciplinary School on Applied Ontology (ISAO) is the premier educational forum for acquiring and deepening knowledge in ontology - its foundations, applications, and interconnections with related areas.

Leading experts in applied ontology (AO), formal ontology, modeling, semantics and neighboring fields teach various basic courses as well as engage in interactive formats for deepening the knowledge of all participants, providing a full immersion experience in AO for all levels of expertise. Ten speakers will give courses - we highlight G. Guizzardi, C. Masolo, C. Trojahn and L. Vieu (more details below).

The ISAO series is run by the International Association for Ontology and its Applications (IAOA) [7] and is held jointly with FOIS every two years. ISAO 2025 is the 6th instance, after 2012/14/16/18/23 [8].
