[DL] Next Description Logic Seminar by Axel-Cyrille Ngonga Ngomo

Dear DL and KR Community Members,
we are happy to announce that the next Description Logic Seminar will take
place on the 20th of June at 2pm CE(S)T via Zoom.
Our next speaker is Axel-Cyrille Ngonga Ngomo from Paderborn University and
the topic of his talk is "Neuro-Symbolic Concept Learning".

Abstract: This talk addresses supervised concept learning within
description logics (DLs) through a neuro-symbolic framework. After
introducing foundational aspects of concept learning, we  examine current
limitations in existing implementations. These include scalability
challenges as well as sensitivity to noisy or inconsistent data in
knowledge bases. We then present some of our recent works that advance
neuro-symbolic approaches for concept learning by exploring alternative
representation paradigms that enhance both performance and robustness.
Specifically, we investigate tensor-based approaches, embedding techniques
and reinforcement learning. We show that these methods mitigate some
limitations of purely symbolic approaches but also yield a byproduct of
remarkable robustness against erroneous data.
