** Theme and topics **

In keeping with the goals of Knowledge-Based Systems in providing a
platform for focusing on systems that use knowledge-based techniques to
support human decision-making, learning and action, and for emphasizing
the practical significance of such systems in modern computer
development and usage, we solicit original articles for the special
issue on CMRHAI: “Cognitive Models and Reasoning for Human-Aware
Interaction”. In the development of knowledge-based systems, the
interaction with the user is of utmost importance. In order to truly
understand the behavior of a user, and to provide a good means for
support, the utilization of cognitive models and reasoning can prove to
be highly beneficial. In this special issue, the main aim is advancing
both the theoretical understanding as well as enhancing the current
knowledge about the practical benefits of the utilization of these
cognitive models and reasoning. Works that describe theoretical
computational cognitive models (also including related domains, such as
neuro-cognitive models), computational reasoning approaches inspired by
cognitive theories or models, the application of cognitive approaches
(either explicit or implicit) in interaction with users, and the
evaluation of such systems are invited for this Special Issue.

** Submission instructions **

Authors should submit their papers via EES:
http://www.ees.elsevier.com/knosys and select ”Special Issue: CMRHAI”
when asked to indicate the ”Article Type” in the submission process. The
same homepage contains detailed information for authors. It is
recommended that a paper does not exceed 20 pages.

Submitted papers should not have been previously published nor be
currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. Refereeing and
the selection of papers will be carried out according to the standards
of the journal of Knowledge-Based Systems
