This year the German AI conference is celebrating its 25th anniversary,
and with it over a quarter of a century of AI research in Germany. For
the technical programme we had 58 submissions from 17 countries and from
all continents except Australia. With an acceptance rate of slightly
less than 30% we feel that we have a very strong programme (see below).
As in previous years, the proceedings of the conference will be
published in the LNAI Series of Springer-Verlag.
The technical programme will also feature invited talks by Elisabeth
Andre (University of Augsburg), Mike Wooldridge (University of
Liverpool), and Dieter Fensel (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam).
Wednesday afternoon will be reserved for a presentation and discussion
of the three Priority Programmes ("Schwerpunktprogramme", SPPs) on agent
technology, sponsered by the German Science Foundation (DFG). The SPPs
and their respective speakers are "Socionics" (Thomas Malsch, TU
Hamburg-Harburg), "Intelligent Agents and Realistic Commercial
Application Scenarios" (Stefan Kirn, TU Ilmenau) and "Cooperating Teams
of Mobile Robots in Dynamic Environments" (Thomas Christaller,
Fraunhofer AIS).
On Monday and Tuesday, there will be seven pre-conference workshops on a
variety of subjects such as multi-agent systems, reasoning under
uncertainty, and description logics. Please, note that there are no
additional fees for attending workshops! In addition, two of the agent
SPP's will hold their regular meetings during the days of the workshops.
These meetings are also open to other participants of the conference.
Last but not least, there will be time to discover the wonderful
historic city of Aachen. For example, a guided tour of the old city will
be arranged for Thursday afternoon. For more details, registration and
