<div dir="ltr"><div>Call for Tutorials Proposals </div><div><br></div><div>2014 IEEE International Conference on Big Data (IEEE BigData 2014)</div><div>October 27-30, 2014, Washington DC, USA</div><div><br></div><div>Context and scope</div>
<div>The Program Committees of the 2014 IEEE International Conference on Big Data (IEEE BigData 2014) invite proposals for Tutorials with the aim of offering a high-quality tutorial program providing attendees the opportunity to learn from and to interact with internationally recognized experts in the most popular areas Big Data.</div>
<div>IEEE BigData 2014 tutorials are intended to cover a wide range of topics of interest to the Big Data community. The tutorials chairs encourages proposals for half-day (between three and four hours) tutorials with broad applicability and of interest to a large fraction of the IEEE Big Data 2014 attendees.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Proposals for the following areas (as well as others) are solicited:</div><div>1. Big Data Foundations</div><div>2. Big Data Infrastructure </div><div>3. Big Data Management</div><div>4. Big Data Search and Mining</div>
<div>5. Big Data Security & Privacy</div><div>6. Prospective tutorials organizers are encouraged to contact tutorial chairs for feedback. </div>
<div><br></div><div>Guidelines for Tutorials Proposals</div><div>Prospective tutorials organizers are urged to take great care in preparing the proposal containing the following sections:</div><div>1.<span class="" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Name and contact information of tutorial representative.</div>
<div>2.<span class="" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Tutorial Title and abstract in text format (250-word maximum)</div><div>3.<span class="" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Duration (2 hours or 4 hours). </div><div>4.<span class="" style="white-space:pre"> </span>A detailed description of the proposed tutorial (2 pages maximum) with the following sections:</div>
<div>• Tutorial goals and subtopic – specifically how attendees will benefit;</div><div>• Why the topic is relevant to IEEE Big Data 2014 attendees;</div><div>• Targeted audience (researchers, students, developers, practitioners, etc.)</div>
<div>• Content level (% beginner, % intermediate, % advanced)</div><div>• Audience prerequisites;</div><div>• General description of tutorial content;</div><div>• If your presenters are from different institutions, how you will ensure cohesive tutorial content;</div>
<div>5.<span class="" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Detailed outline of the tutorial (1 page maximum in outline form). No hand-on for this first edition.</div><div>6.<span class="" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Curriculum Vitae for each presenter (2-pages maximum each). Make sure this includes a list of short courses the presenter has taught.</div>
<div>7.<span class="" style="white-space:pre"> </span>A statement agreeing to the release of the notes on the IEEE Big Data 2014 tutorial digital media.</div><div><br></div><div>Tutorial submissions will be reviewed by the IEEE BigData 2014 tutorials chairs, which will consider among other factors:</div>
<div>1.<span class="" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Appropriateness for the IEEE BigData 2014 audience and appropriateness for a tutorial (timeliness of the topic and potential audience appeal).</div><div>2.<span class="" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Quality of the tutorial proposal.</div>
<div>3.<span class="" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Presentation history and teaching/speaking experience of the presenters and the team/institution that is giving support.</div><div><br></div><div>Submission</div><div>
