Researcher in the area of Knowledge representation and reasoning

The successful candidate will work primarily at the development of systems for the acquisition and representation of contextualized knowledge, and the development of efficient and scalable reasoning and search algorithm to be used to support knowledge extraction from multimedia content (natural language and images) and it’s semantic enrichment with background knowledge. The activity will require the integration of the module for knowledge representation and integration with system of natural language and image processing. The activities will be carried out within the project LiveMemories (www.livememories.org<http://www.livememories.org/>) Funded by : Autonomous Province of Trento (Italy), Major Projects 2006, and in future projects in this area.

The candidate is expected to work in collaboration with other researchers, programmers, and students involved in this and other related projects. Due to FBK's attempt to promote equal opportunity and gender balance, in case of equal applications, female candidates will be given preference.

The ideal candidate should have:

  *   PhD in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  *   Solid theoretical background in semantic web, automated reasoning, logic and knowledge representation
  *   Skills in experimental work and software development
  *   Previous research experience
  *   Good knowledge of English (oral and written)

Additional requirements:

  *   Background knowledge in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, natural language processing, database
  *   Ability to work in a collaborative environment and deliver in research projects

Type of contract: Research position (R3 level) for a 3 years contract. Salary offer will be approximately 37.800,00 euro per year before tax.

The Data and Knowledge Management (DKM) Research Unit of the Bruno Kessler Foundation, Centre for Information Technology, is seeking a candidate for a research position.

The successful candidate will work primarily at: 1. the development of MoKi, the modeling wiki for the acquisition and representation of procedures and documental flows in complex organizations, and for the representation of an ontology ofdocuments; and 2. the support of usage of MoKi<https://dkm.fbk.eu/index.php/MoKi> in several use cases within the ProDe (Progetto Interregionale Dematerializzazione)<https://dkm.fbk.eu/index.php/ProDe_%28Progetto_Interregionale_Dematerializzazione%29>. The use cases will be provided by several Italian regions, which will use MoKi to model different typologies of procedures and documents.

Type of contract: collaboration contract (co.co.pro) for a 1 year. Salary offer will approximately Euros 30.400,00 before tax per year.
