ANNOUNCEMENT OF AVAILABLE POSITION
UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR IN KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT
FACULTY OF COMPUTER SCIENCE

The School of Computer Science (Fakultät für Informatik) at Graz 
University of Technology seeks to fill the position of University 
Professor for Knowledge Management

at its Institute of Knowledge Management. The University offers a full 
time employment contract under private law. We expect the successful 
candidate to start on 1st of March 2011.

We are looking for a proven researcher and academic teacher to continue 
the past emphasis on knowledge management, knowledge technologies and 
collaboration technologies (e.g. Web 2.0). We would like to see a focus 
on integration of knowledge management, learning and service-oriented 
knowledge management. We expect a continued cooperation with the 
Know-Center, Austria’s competence center for knowledge management and 
knowledge-based systems at Graz University of Technology.

The position will initiate and execute international research projects, 
as well as network with other parts of the computer science team at the 
University. A proven record of experience and cooperation in teaching of 
computer science and in associated programs will include the supervision 
of diploma and master theses, as well as of doctoral dissertations. We 
expect also that candidates show a willingness to contribute to all 
phases of computer science and its related studies.

Qualifications:
•        Completion of a relevant academic program in Austria or of an 
equivalent foreign program, including a doctoral degree and a relevant 
habilitation (venia docendi) or a qualification that is equivalent to a 
habilitation;
•        Excellent science record with publications in internationally 
recognized conferences and journals;
•        Documented experience in applied research and in the 
cooperation with industry;
•        International orientation with excellence in the English 
language and with a multi-year international professional record;
•        Experience in the initiation, scientific direction and 
execution of contract research, specifically with the programs of the 
European Union’s research initiatives;
•        Ability in setting up, maintaining and directing research teams;
•        Experience in the set-up and establishment of research networks 
and communities in topics relevant to knowledge management;

The main place of residence will have to be in or near Graz.

Graz University of Technology desires an increase in the share of

important publications, an overview of past and planned research
