Information integration has been a long standing challenge for the
database community. The investigation of this problem in the two last
decades led to a great piece of fundamental theory together with many
pragmatic work concerned with implementation and testing of a variety of
information integration systems as well as the development of
applications in several areas. However, today, under the driving force
of new application areas and Internet, there is a need in leveraging
traditional integration techniques in order to tackle new challenges
such as on-the-fly or web-scale integration in open and highly dynamic
information space.
DISWeb’06 is the fifth workshop in a successful series of annual
workshops on Data Integration and Semantic Web, which have been held in
conjunction with the International Conference on Advanced Information
Systems Engineering (CAISE). DISWeb'06 aims at continuing the tradition
of the previous four workshops in fostering the debate on new issues and
research directions in the information integration and the semantic web.

TOPICS OF INTEREST
DISWeb’06 solicits high quality papers reporting research results and/or
experience reports. Workshop topics include, but are not limited to,
the following:
- Semantic integration
- Web semantics
- Data sharing in P2P
- Integrated data management for mobile applications
- Ontologies for data integration
- Ontology-based information sharing
- Schema mapping
- Managing metadata for semantic integration
- Distributed data warehouses
- New architectures for data integration
- Web services
- Web querying: planning and optimization
- Storage structures and indexing techniques for web data
- Web data visualization

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Authors are invited to submit papers, in English, 11pt, of approximately
5000 words. Electronic submissions are required. Submitted papers will
be evaluated by three reviewers. Acceptance will be based on relevance,
technical soundness, originality, and quality of presentation. Papers
accepted for presentation will be included in the workshop proceedings.
Selected best papers will be invited for publication (in extended
version, subject to refereeing) in a special issue of an international
journal.
Papers should be submitted by email as Word or PDF documents to Farouk
