Research Position available!

    Research Associate in Computer Science, in the
    Information Management Group of the University of Manchester

The position is funded by the EPSRC as part of the the project

    "Extending Expressive Description Logics"

in which we will investigate different extensions of expressive
description logics that are motivated by the use of DLs as the logical
underpinning of ontology languages such as DAML+OIL and OWL. Currently,
we plan to investigate extensions with nominals and with complex role
inclusions, and we plan to investigate their computational complexity
and design practical reasoning algorithms for suitable extensions.

Manchester and its Information Management Group of the University of
Manchester are great places to live and work: the Department of Computer
Science was awarded a 5* rating, one of six Computer Science departments
to be awarded this highest grade, in the Research Assessment Exercise
2001; you will find there (computer and other) scientists from different
fields working together on world leading research; and Manchester is one
of Britain's most lively and dynamic cities, surrounded by fine
countryside, and its weather isn't half as bad as some people might think!
