                    FORMAL CONCEPT ANALYSIS

A Special Issue of the JOURNAL OF UNIVERSAL COMPUTER SCIENCE

Formal Concept Analysis arose around 1980 out of attempts of
restructuring lattice theory to promote better communication between
lattice theorists and potential users of lattice theory. Since then,
Formal Concept Analysis has been increasingly developed as a strong
field of research stimulated by a broad spectrum of applications.
Today researchers from all over the world contribute to Formal Concept
Analysis and apply methods and results of Formal Concept Analysis.
Formal Concept Analysis has been discussed at many conferences then,
especially in Mathematics and Computer Science.

This year, the 1st International Conference on Formal Concept Analysis
( http://fzbw.de/icfca03 ) was set up as a forum for presenting the
state of the art of this lively research area. This conference was the
trigger for setting up a special issue of the Journal of Universal
Computer Science. The special issue aims at presenting current
research on theory and applications of Formal Concept Analysis. It
will include both long versions of papers presented at the conference
and further high quality submissions.

TOPICS OF INTEREST

The topics of interests include both theoretical and application
oriented papers on Formal Concept Analysis. Articles relating FCA to
other theories are also welcome. The special issue aims both at long
versions of papers presented at the 1st International Conference on
Formal Concept Analysis (ICFCA 2003), Darmstadt, Germany, as well as
at other high quality submissions. Both kinds of papers will undergo
the same reviewing process.

SUBMISSION DETAILS

The final version of accepted papers has to follow the layout
guidelines at http://www.jucs.org/jucs_submit . Although not
mandatory, we suggest to use the corresponding style files from that
webpage also for your initial submission. The issue aims at high
quality papers with a length around 20 to max. 25 pages. Please send
your submission in postscript or pdf no later than March 14, 2003 to
stumme at aifb.uni-karlsruhe.de .
